Meet the Holmes sisters!!

In this blog, Hollis Holmes and Eliza Holmes share their panhellenic experience going through college side by side while calling Kappa Delta and Delta Delta Delta home. While they found sisterhood in different chapters, their friendship has only grown stronger throughout their time at Clemson University. From growing up together to becoming college roommates, their story is a reminder that sisterhood lasts far beyond the college years and that panhellenic love goes beyond letters.

“Being at Clemson with my sister has easily been one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience. Growing up just a year apart, we have pretty much done everything together for as long as I can remember. Having her join me here made Clemson feel even more like home. Choosing Kappa Delta was one of the best decisions I have made at Clemson and I wanted my sister to have an experience as fulfilling as mine. I was so nervous for her to go through recruitment, but it ended up being such a special experience for both of us. I’m so grateful that we each found our homes in our sororities and that we have made lasting friendships and memories.

It’s incredibly special to share both the Clemson community and the Greek community with my sister. Although we are in different sororities, we get to support each other and watch each other thrive in such a special way. Now, getting to live together as roommates has made this season of life even sweeter. I have loved watching her grow in her friendships and I am so proud of the woman she has become. Attending Clemson alongside my sister is something I will forever be grateful for, and I will always cherish having her by my side through it all!!!!”

“Sisterhood can mean many things: from sharing bunk beds with your older sister, to playing Just Dance with your best friends on Norris Hall, to having a bond that does not change, even when everything else does. While I could spend hours celebrating the memories and laughter I’ve shared with my sorority sisters, I want to take a moment to honor the sister who shaped my understanding of sisterhood long before my Clemson experience began: my older sister, Hollis. She is kind, wise, and resilient, and having her at Clemson a year ahead of me made all the difference.

Throughout my sorority rush, I leaned on the understanding of sisterhood I had already experienced to find a sorority that gave me the same feelings I’ve always shared with my sister. Although we ended up in two different sororities, Hollis and I have remained intertwined for the past three years. It is so special being able to share a college campus, a two-bedroom apartment, and panhellenic community with the woman I look up to the most. Although our time sharing this sweet town and community is coming to an end, I will always hold our college memories close to my heart!!!”
